Golf Tournament Software
The Focus/2000 Tournament Management System is designed to set up and run stroke play golf tournaments. Tournaments may be a single day event, or up to five days of play. Most stroke play formats are supported.
Tournament facilities include setting up the tournament field, tracking entry fees, creating teams and flights, scheduling tee times and/or shotgun starts, assigning carts and printing cart signs, printing scorecards with stroke holes already dotted, entering scores, and printing and displaying tournament and skins results.
Tournament Combo
Focus Tournament software is only available as a Tournament Combo which includes the Tournament software described on this page with the Focus/2000 Handicapping Software.
Tournament Features
Multiple Tournaments:
If you manage tournaments for more than one group, each group is set up separately on the Focus Home Screen. That way you can easily move from one group's tournaments to another. Each tournament has its own parameters, tournament field, starting schedule, reporting, etc.
Single/Multi-Day:
Each tournament may be a single day event, or up to five days with cumulative results after each day.
Tournament Master Schedule:
Maintain and provide your golfers with a schedule of all upcoming events, including date, tournament format, entry fees, and prize money to be paid.
Sign-Up Sheet:
Print and post a sign-up sheet for each tournament.
Tournament Parameters:
The power and flexibility of Focus/2000 tournament software are based on tournament parameters that let you each structure each tournament for just the way you want to play. Tournament formats may be the same, or different, for each day of a multi-day tournament.
Golfers:
Focus/2000 Tournament and Tournament Combos supporting up to 20, 50, 150, or 999 golfers are available. Tournament golfers may be club members, non-members, or both.
Tournament Courses:
An entire tournament may be played on the same golf course, or each day of a multi-day tournament may be played on a different golf course.
Tournament Field:
When setting up the tournament field, you may select club members and prospects, including their current handicaps, with a couple of mouse clicks. You may also add non-members by entering their names and handicap information directly. And, the tournament field is continually displayed and updated so you can see at a glance who has been included.
Tournament Fees:
Track and manage entry fees and date due by golfers or team.
Formats Supported:
The Focus/2000 tournament software supports the following stroke play tournament formats:
- Individual Low Gross
- Individual Low Net
- Individual Stableford
- Team Combined Stableford
- Quota Points
- Scramble
- Scotch
- Team Combined Low Gross
- Team Combined Low Net
- Single Best Ball
- Multiple Best Ball
- Progressive Best Ball (1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, etc.)
- Reverse Progressive (3, 2, 1, 3, 2, 1, etc.)
- Best Balls By Par (1 on P5 , 2 on P4, 3 on P3)
Multiple Formats In Same Tournament:
Many formats can be mixed in the same tournament giving you multiple tournament results. For example, your basic tournament format can be a team stableford, but in addition, you can also print the order of finish for individual golfers based on total low gross and low net.
Skins:
Skins may be played with virtually any tournament format. Individual and team skins are supported. If you elect to play skins, they are optional by golfer or team. Skins may be played scratch or with handicaps, and they may be played with or without carryovers. Skins may be played across the entire tournament field, or if applicable, by flight.
Giant Skins:
For multi-day tournaments, you can determine skins winners based on cumulative hole scores over several days.
Golfer Handicaps:
If golfers have established handicaps they may be used. Or, if golfers have USGA Handicap Indexes, the system can convert them to tournament handicaps for you based on the slope of the course and tees being played. Tournaments can be played scratch, with full handcaps, or handicaps reduced to any percentage you select.
If you are using a Tournament Combo, scores entered for a tournament can be posted to your handicap files with a click of your mouse.
SpinCap:
If tournament entrants have no established handicaps, use SpinCap to calculate a handicap for them after play is complete. SpinCap is a six-hole blind draw similar to the "Peoria System", but you have additional capabilities in selecting the holes used, the maximum hole score allowed, and a maximum handicap allowed.
Teams:
Teams may consist of two to five golfers. For team based tournaments, you may enter your own teams, or let the system create your teams automatically. When the system creates teams, it does it in such a way as to try to have each team's combined handicap approximately the same. Golfers may easily be moved from one team to another.
Flights:
If a tournament is flighted, you may assign golfers and teams to flights, or let the system create flights automatically based on golfer or team handicaps. The system supports up to 22 flights. Individual flights (e.g. Championship) can play scratch while other flights can play with handicaps.
Scheduled Tee Times:
Golfers and teams may be scheduled to start on the first tee, or on both the first and 10th tees. The order for starting may be random, low handicaps first, high handicaps first, or pro-start (multiple day tournaments only) where the tournament leaders tee off last.
Scheduling - Assigned Tee Times
Shotgun Starts:
All golfers or teams start at the same time but on different holes. Up to two groups may start on each hole. For large tournaments, you may use a double shotgun start with one group playing in the morning and a second group in the afternoon.
Tournament Scorecards:
Print tournament scorecards listing golfers, teams, flights, starting times, or starting tees. Depending on the tournament format, stroke holes are dotted. Focus/2000 scorecards are required.

Cart Assignments & Cart Signs:
Golfers may be set up as "Walkers" or "Riders". An Assignment Worksheet may be used to assist in grouping Walkers and Riders, and for assigning carts. Once assigned, 5 1/2 by 8 inch cart signs may be printed.
Disqualifications & No Shows
Golfers or teams can be disqualified by simply clicking on a "Disqualify" button. Disqualifying a team disqualifies all golfers on the team.
Entering Scores:
Scores are entered hole-by-hole. Scores for all golfers on a team are entered on the same screen. The system automatically totals gross and net scores, combined team scores, best ball scores, stableford points, quota points, and skins. Total scores and points are displayed as you enter scores, and before the scores are posted.
Tournament Results:
After all scores have been entered, you may display or print tournament results, results by flight, and skins results. A variety of reports may be printed. If you do not have a printer at the course, all tournament results can be displayed on your computer screen.
Tie-Breakers:
The Focus/2000 Tournament System has a built in tie-breaker. You may use the system's tie breaking procedures which start with the 18th hole and work backward to resolve ties, or use your own procedures.
Multiple Day Results:
After each day of a multi-day event, post that day's scores to tournament total. Then display or print golfer and team standings through the last day completed. These standings show each day's scores plus the cumulative tournament totals.
Prospects Module:
For promoters of charity or community service tournaments, this module includes a data base of golfers who have played, or might play, in your golf tournaments. You can use the module's reports to contact prospective tournaments. And you can use the prospect data base with your word processor to send notices of upcoming events, invitations, and print prospect labels.
Sponsor Module:
The Sponsor Module maintains a data base of individuals and companies, including contact names and phone numbers, who have donated prizes or money for past tournaments. You can use the module's reports to contact prospective tournament sponsors. And, use the sponsor data base with your word processor to create prize solicitation letters, send thank you letters, and print sponsor labels.
